Scheuermann’s family is considering filing a federal civil rights lawsuit. Attorney Joshua Karoly subpoenaed the investigative materials on behalf of Scheuermann’s mother, Lois Spaziani, who is the administrator of his estate.
But the Pennsylvania State Police objected, saying state law prevents those documents from being turned over to anyone other than another criminal justice agency. Judge Emil Giordano agreed Wednesday, finding that case law “makes plain” that the Criminal History Record Information Act prohibits the disclosure.
