Calling the case “an absolute tragedy all around,” a judge on Wednesday said she did not believe a Slatington man who had a seizure behind the wheel and caused a fiery crash in Whitehall that killed three people deserved to be punished.
Lehigh County Judge Kelly L. Banach said she was “mystified” by the verdict in John E. Mayer’s trial last month. Jurors found the 34-year-old warehouse worker not guilty of vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter, but guilty of reckless endangerment.
